One of the first big choices you’ll face in Legend of Mushroom is picking your class. With options such as Warrior, Mage, Archer, and Sprit Channeler, all offering different skills, strengths, and playstyles, it’s natural to wonder: What’s the best class? Is there one option that’s flat-out stronger, or does it all come down to how you want to play?
This guide breaks down each class, their unique perks, and which one might be the “best” for you, whether you’re aiming for top damage, survivability, or all-around fun.
The Best Class in Legend of Mushroom
There’s no single “best class” for every player. Each shines in different situations, and depending on how you want to play will determine the best class for you. I will provide a quick overview of each class to help you decide which one might be best for you:
Warrior
Best for: Players who want to tank hits, solo tough bosses, or play a strong melee role. You can specialise later in either tank or counterattack builds.
Strengths: High defense, strong counterattacks.
Weaknesses: Lower burst damage, no ranged combat.
Archer
Best for: Players who enjoy high damage output and glass-cannon playstyles.
Strengths: Can attack from a distance, delivers high crits and combo damage, and excels at quickly bursting down enemies.
Weaknesses: Fragile, with lower survivability compared to other classes.
Mage
Best for: Players who want to use skills frequently and maximise skill-based damage.
Strengths: Can stun and control enemies, deal damage over time, and break through enemy defences.
Weaknesses: Lacks self-healing, despite some expectations.
Spirit Channeler
Best for: Players who want to deal large area-of-effect damage while boosting their pals’ performance.
Strengths: High AOE damage and the ability to buff allies.
Weaknesses: Less popular overall; works best if you have strong pals to support.
Community Favorites & General Class Picks
Although all classes in Legend of Mushroom are fairly balanced and your choice largely depends on your personal playstyle, the community has developed some common strategies for getting the most out of each stage of the game. If you want the best overall experience and smoother progression, here’s what most I and most other players recommend:
Early Game Class – Levels 1-100
Mage is a common choice for the early game due to it being very effective for early game dungeons, PVP and general clearing. You can build into either Chronomancer or Storm Priest. Here’s how the 2 compare:
Chronomancer
Has a well-balanced all round kit, that specialises in cooldown reduction and AOE damage.
Build priority: Cooldown reduction > Energy Regen > Stun
Storm Priest
Better suited for skill crit builds and high attack damage output.
Build Priority: Skill Crit Rate > Skill Crit Damage > Skill Damage
Mid Game Class – Levels 100-120
When you start to reach levels 100-120, it can be a good idea to switch to the archer class. You can choose from either Sharpshooter or Dual Crossbower. Here’s how the 2 compare:
Sharpshooter
Deals really good single target damage, specialised in high crit and combo damage.
Build Priority: Crit Rate > Combo > Crit Damage
Dual Crossbower
Attacks faster and can target multiple enemies. More focussed on combo damage.
Build Priority: Combo Rate > Combo Damage > Crit Rate > Attack
Late Game – Level 120+
When you reach the late game, it ultimately comes down to personal preference. Warrior can be the best class due to it not being as effective early game, it really thrives in this later levels. You can pick between Claymore Wielder and Berserker.
Claymore Wielder
Good for counterattack damage, and normal PVE battles.
Build Priority: Regen > Counter > Counter Damage > Attack
Berserker
Good all round melee build.
Build Priority: Regen > Counter > Counter Damage
Alternatively, Spirit Channeler is another good option, as the chances are you’ll have more/ better pals by this point. You can pick between Soul Hunter and Spirit Shepherd. Here’s how the 2 compare:
Soul Hunter
Spirit Shepherd
How to Switch Classes
You can switch classes at any time for 4,000 Gems. You can do this by visiting the class overview page and pressing the “Reset” button. You can try out all of the different classes by doing this.
Tip: Save up Gems for at least one class change!
