In a recent Rise of Kingdoms update, the game received a major graphics overhaul, bringing noticeable changes to saturation, contrast, colouring, and textures.
Alongside these visual tweaks, elements of the map such as barbarian forts, resource nodes, and alliance buildings have all been given a fresh new look. While many players are enjoying the revamped visuals, some may still prefer the original style.
The good news is that if you’re not a fan of the remastered graphics, developers Lilith have included an option to switch back to the classic look. This is especially useful if you’re using an older device that struggles with the updated visuals, or if you simply prefer the original aesthetic.
How to Change Between Remastered & Old Graphics
Changing between the graphics options is a relatively simple process, but it’s hard to miss if you don’t explore the game settings often. Here are some simple steps showing you how to do this:
Step 1: Open the game and tab your profile icon in the top corner.
Step 2: Press the settings button in the bottom corner of the profile screen.
Step 3: Visit the general settings indicated by the cog icon.
Step 4: Select whether you want the original or remastered map. In this instance, we will choose old to go back to the original graphics.
Step 5: Hit confirm and let the game restart.
Step 6: When the game reopens, you will be back to the original map layout.
