Maggrat is a strong Marksman hero in Call of Dragons, and if you’ve just unlocked her, you’re probably wondering how to build her effectively. With so many talents, artifacts, and skill paths to choose from, picking the right setup can make a big difference in her performance on the battlefield.
Maggrat is only available through the Lucky Spin wheel, not from gold chests, so unlocking her will cost you some gems. Once you’ve pulled her from the wheel, you can then use universal hero tokens to level her up.
While she’s not fully free-to-play due to the gem cost up front, once unlocked, she becomes a good option for F2P players who are smart with their tokens.
Best Maggrat Talent Tree Builds
For PVP, the Marksman/ Precision tree build is the best for dealing the most damage. You’ll want to build all the way to Mighty Slash in the precision tree first to improve your chances of dealing another normal attack. Afterwards, build towards Bullseye in the Marksman tree which builds up attack damage stacks the longer you are in battle.
Best Maggrat Pairings
Maggrat can be paired with most other Marksman heroes in Call of Dragons, but some combinations work better than others. Below is a list of hero pairings ranked from best to worst to help you find the most effective matchups. If you want to see how these heroes rank, check out our full Call of Dragons Hero tier list.
Zayda (Best Pairing)
The best pairing for Maggrat is Zayda. They were both released together and this usually indicates they make a good pairing. Both are marksman heroes and their synergy is excellent. Maggrat should be the primary hero for the talent trees.
This pairing comes with plenty of damage, crit, and healing buffs, and it still ranks as the highest damage-dealing combo in the game. It easily earns a spot in our top 5 hero pairings in Call of Dragons.
Kinnara
Kinnara is a more free-to-play-friendly legendary pairing, especially for early game players. She’s available from Season 1, making her an accessible option right from the start. Her setup offers extra damage boosts, which pairs perfectly with Maggrat’s damage-focused skill set.
Ffraegar
Ffraegar can also be another great legenday pairing option as she provides good attack and crit buffs. Saying this however, she is a flying hero so you won’t be able to take advantage of these benefits if paired with Maggrat.
Gwanwyn
Gwanwyn is more of a last-resort pairing if you don’t have any other legendary heroes available. As an epic hero, she doesn’t offer the high damage output needed to fully complement Maggrat, but she’s a good early option, especially since she’s easy to awaken and level up.
Best Artifacts for Maggrat
Here is a list of the best artifacts you can use with Maggrat to improve your merit output. Remember, the choice of artifact depends on your playstyle, the situation, and the role you want Maggrat to play. Each artifact has its strengths and uses, so consider them carefully. You can view the full list of artifacts here.
Gilded Crossbow
This legendary marksman artifact is currently one of the best in the game. It damages up to 3 enemy legions within range, making it a good choice for PVP. It also improves march speed by 40% which is crucial for slow marksman units
Goldcrest
Deals huge damage to a single legion and grants additional march speed. Damage is improved if you pair Maggrat with Ffraegar and use this artifact.
Shadowblades
A much easier legendary Marksman artifact to obtain. Although not as good as Gilded Crossbow and Goldcrest, Shadowblades does target up to 5 legions in a rectangle with a decent damage output.
Heartpiercer
This artifact is a good option if you don’t have any of the legendary ones mentioned above. It has a damage factor of 2,000 which is slightly less than its legendary counterparts, however you can star this up easily and takeadvantage of the attribute boosts much quicker (Marksman atttack, legion attack and damage taken reduction).
Maggrat Skill Levelling
In Call of Dragons, promoting a hero to a higher star level unlocks new skills. When you use hero tokens to level up skills, you can’t choose which skill gets upgraded. The game distributes upgrades at random.
Note: You can now lock skills in place. However, if you skip skill 2 and try to focus on skill 3, upgrades will still be randomly split between the two. This system only works when the skill you want to prioritise comes before the one you want to skip.
If you’re building Maggrat for PvP, I strongly recommend focusing on her first skill, Peech’s Dream, and maxing it to level 5 before you use stars to unlock the rest. Once that’s done, you can safely aim for 5111 or 5551 builds depending on your tokens.
Best War Pet Pairings for Maggrat
To round off Maggrat’s build, you’ll need a strong War Pet pairing. This is an important part of improving her PvP performance and can make a big difference to her overall damage output. Below are the best recommendations for Maggrat, but if you want an overview of all of the War Pets check out our Call of Dragons War Pet Tier List.
