Lunchboxes are one of the most valuable rewards in Fallout Shelter, offering a chance at rare Dwellers, powerful weapons, outfits, caps, and more.
This guide explains exactly how to get more lunchboxes for free and via in-game methods.
What Are Lunchboxes in Fallout Shelter?
Lunchboxes are loot crates that contain 5 cards, each offering:
Resources (caps, food, water, etc.)
Weapons or outfits (sometimes rare or legendary)
Junk or crafting components
Rare or Legendary Dwellers
There’s also a chance that one or more of the cards will be legendary, especially if you’re lucky.
How to Get More Lunchboxes
There are several ways to earn lunchboxes, some completely free, others through gameplay progression or real-world purchases.
Complete In-Game Objectives
One of the most reliable free methods is by completing daily and long-term objectives. Some objectives offer a lunchbox as a reward, especially:
“Collect X weapons or outfits”
“Successfully rush rooms X times”
“Level up Dwellers”
“Kill X enemies in the wasteland”
Tip: If you get an objective with a lunchbox reward that’s too hard, you can skip one objective per day by tapping the “X” on it. Always try to complete the objective though, as lunchboxes are one of the best rewards.
Login Daily for Rewards
Fallout Shelter offers daily login bonuses. This is mainly caps and occasionally, lunchboxes are included in the reward calendar. These are usually given on Day 7, Day 14, etc. of a login streak.
Tip: If you don’t have a lot of time to play, simply opening the app daily and claiming the log in reward can help you grab these rewards passively over time.
Complete Quest Lines
Some quests, particularly special event quests or chain quests, offer lunchboxes as rewards. These become available via the Overseer’s Office once it’s built.
Examples include:
“Game Show Gauntlet” quest chain
Holiday-themed quests
Weekly limited-time quests
Completing these quests often rewards one or more lunchboxes, especially if they’re multi-stage chains.
Watch Advertisement Videos (Mobile)
Mobile players have the option to watch a short advertisement video for a chance of receiving a free lunchbox.
This isn’t guaranteed, however, as there are other rewards available such as pet carriers, Nuka Cola Quantum, and caps. Rewards are allocated at random.
Purchase Them (Optional)
Lunchboxes can also be bought using real money via the in-game store. These usually come in bundles (1, 5, 15, 40), sometimes with bonus Mr. Handys or pet carriers.
If you choose to spend, wait for discount bundles or special offers, which appear during holidays or game milestones.
Are There Any Lunchbox Hacks or Cheats?
While you might find videos or guides claiming to offer lunchbox “hacks” or generators, these are almost always fake or unsafe. Using third-party software or modified APKs can:
Corrupt your game data
Result in a ban (on some platforms)
Risk malware or data theft
Stick to legitimate in-game methods to keep your vault safe and stable.
Summary
Lunchboxes can give your vault a major edge, especially in the early and mid-game. By regularly completing objectives, checking in daily, and clearing quests, you can stack them up without spending a penny. And who knows? Your next one might just have a legendary Dweller inside.
