Yun-Ming is a legendary Mage hero in Call of Dragons that was released in the 1.0.41 update, Into the Wilds.
As he is a new hero, and with such a large choice of talents, artifacts, and pets to choose from you are going to be wondering how to build him. This guide gives you everything you need to know to help make Yun-Ming as strong as he can be.
Best Yun-Ming Talent Tree Build
The talent tree setup below is the best and only viable choice for Yun-Ming at the moment.
Yun-Ming Skill Talent Tree
The skill talent tree build is useful for dealing large amounts of skill damage. Focus on working your way towards Thirst for Blood in the skill branch, picking up bonuses to skill damage and rage regeneration along the way (Spirit of Rage). After that, place your remaining talent points into the magic tree to gain extra buffs like HP, march speed, and defense penetration.
Best Yun-Ming Pairings
Pairing Yun-Ming is straightforward since he works well with most Magic heroes in Call of Dragons, though some pairings are stronger than others.
Below, you’ll find a list of hero combinations ranked from best to worst to help you choose the most effective matchups. For a wider look at how these heroes compare, check out our full Call of Dragons Hero tier list.
Gromara (Best Pairing)
Gromara was released alongside Yun-Ming, and as with past updates, heroes launched together are usually designed to pair well. Yun-Ming and Gromara are no exception. Gromara provides the skill damage buffs Yun-Ming relies on while also boosting single-target damage. If you can unlock both heroes, they should absolutely be paired.
With further testing, this combo is likely to secure a spot in our top five hero pairings in Call of Dragons.
Theia
A more accessible option for free-to-play players is Theia. Since she’s available from gold chests, it’s much easier to level up her skills compared to other heroes. An awakened Theia pairs perfectly with Yun-Ming, as her Arbiter’s Ward skill adds an extra 15% skill damage at level 5. She’s also good for adding extra defensive support.
Liliya
Liliya is the queen of damage dealing in Call of Dragons and also works perfectly well with Yun-Ming.
Thunderlyn
Thunderlyn is another interesting pairing. She brings additional skill damage buffs, and her core rage skill is also AOE, just like Yun-Ming’s. While this combo still needs more testing, on paper it looks like a strong matchup.
Best Artifacts for Yun-Ming
Below is a list of the best artifacts to use with Yun-Ming for improving PVP performance and increasing merits. Remember, the choice of artifact depends on your playstyle, the situation, and the role you want Yun-Ming to play. Each artifact has its own strengths, so consider them carefully. You can view the full list of artifacts here.
Dragon’s Fate
This newly released artifact from the Into the Wilds update is a powerful damage dealing AOE mage artifact designed with Yun-Ming in mind. If you manage to acquire it early, it should be your go-to choice.
Infernal Flame
If you’re pairing Yun-Ming with Liliya, consider using Infernal Flame if you haven’t acquired Dragon’s Fate yet. Infernal Flame is arguably one of the best magic artifacts at the moment, especially if Liliya is being used.
Phoenix Eye
An AOE artifact that also has a large magic damage output. A good choice if Dragon’s Fate or Infernal Flame are not available to use.
Thunder Elegy
An artifact used for control situations as will silence enemies who are targeted by it. Great for AOE and with a Thunderlyn pairing.
Mirage Orb
Mirage Orb scales with skill damage, and if you’ve followed the build above, you’ll find this artifact very useful.
Yun-Ming Skill Levelling
In Call of Dragons, promoting a hero to higher star levels unlocks new skills. When you use hero tokens to upgrade these skills, the improvements are distributed randomly rather than letting you choose.
Note: You can now lock skills in place. However, if you skip skill 2 and try to focus on skill 3, upgrades will still be randomly split between the two. This system only works when the skill you want to prioritise comes before the one you want to skip.
Firstly, get Yun-Ming’s passive skill 1 Premonition to level 5 before upgrading any other skills. You can lock this in place comfortably using skill lock and still star him up.
After this, aim for at least a 5551 build or expertise if you can afford to.
