Arthur Pendragon is a legendary cavalry combo commander in Rise of Kingdoms. If you have just unlocked him and are wondering how to build his talents, skills and discover the ideal pairings, this guide covers everything you need to know about this commander.

Arthur Pendragon Talent Tree Builds

The Combo talent tree is a new addition to the game and currently only two commanders have this, Arthur being one of them. We will be using this talent tree in the build shown below. 

Arthur Pendragon Cavalry Combo Build

Max the combo talents branch first all the way to Iron and Steel. This is really important as this is where most of the damage output will come from. 

For the remaining talents, invest in the cavalry branch. Pick up Undying Fury and Equestrian Excellence to boost rage regeneration and march speed – both are especially useful for cavalry builds.

Best Arthur Pendragon Pairings

Here are the best pairings for Arthur Pendragon that focus on damage output. He will work well with most cavalry commanders, but the ones below have the best synergy. 

Huo Qubing (Best Pairing)

Huo Qubing is the best pairing for Arthur Pendragon as the extra bonus to skill damage can greatly improve the damage output of Arthur’s AoE skill. From multiple tests, Huo is best used as the primary commander. The skill talent tree works really well for this pairing. 

Alexander Nevsky

Alexander Nevsky is the next best pairing after Huo Qubing. While quite similar in terms of skill damage output to Huo, it’s not quite as strong as the one above. That said, Nevsky is far more accessible for most governors, he’s been around longer, remains highly effective, and many players are more likely to have him well-levelled or even expertised. So if you’re looking to put Arthur Pendragon to use right away, Nevsky is a solid choice.

Philip II

Philip II is a versatile commander and pairs really well with Arthur. He boosts stats and damage for almost every troop type, but it’s his expertise that makes him so popular. With an expertise Philip, there’s a 40% chance his active skill will trigger a second time, which is a ridiculously strong bonus. If you’re after high damage in murder ball situations, this pairing works best. Just keep in mind, it’s a bit of a glass cannon, so be ready to lose troops quickly if targeted.

Arthur Pendragon Skill Levelling

As recommended in all Rise of Kingdoms builds, maxing out the first active skill should be your top priority, and the same goes for Arthur Pendragon.

He should be levelled to expertise for effective use, so 5555 is best.

Arthur Pendragon Best Formation

The Delta formation is the best for Arthur Pendragon because it boosts combo damage by 10%. However, it may be hard to find decent armaments that fit this formation at this stage of the game as it’s fairly new. The wedge formation will also work fairly well. 

How Do I Obtain Arthur Pendragon?

Arthur Pendragon can be obtained during the cavalry Wheel of Fortune event. To unlock him, you’ll need 10 Arthur Pendragon sculptures. Once unlocked, you can upgrade his skills using universal legendary commander sculptures.

Keep in mind, he’s only usable in kingdoms that have reached Season 3 or later. It’s best to prioritise investing in him once you’re in the Season of Conquest.
