Liu Che is a legendary infantry commander in Rise of Kingdoms. Whether you’ve just unlocked him or are aiming to do so, you might be curious about how to strategically build his talents, enhance his skills, and choose the right equipment.

Fear not, this guide covers everything you need to know about how to best build Liu Che to make him a powerful open-field Infantry commander.

Liu Che Talent Tree Builds

The most effective talent tree builds for Liu Che are the infantry build and the skill build, depending on your priorities. We haven’t included a talent tree build for the versatility tree since it doesn’t offer any value for open-field battles and doesn’t maximize Liu Che’s abilities.

Liu Che Open-Field Infantry Build

Liu Che infantry talent tree build. Best for enhancing infantry units.

Like with all infantry commanders, we recommend this tree designed for open-field infantry builds. This tree provides numerous buffs to various attributes, including damage, health, march speed, and defense. Allocate the remaining points into the skill tree for additional damage, rage regeneration, and damage reduction.

Liu Che Attack Build

The attack tree build for Liu Che in Rise of Kingdoms.

If your priority is to maximize normal attack damage, the attack talent tree build is the most suitable. This build enhances attack damage, though it comes at the cost of lower skill damage. It’s particularly effective for Lui Che since he deals smite damage, and his third skill, Overawing Presence, enhances infantry attack. As evident, we still allocate a significant number of talent points to the infantry tree, as the attribute bonuses it provides are invaluable.

Best Liu Che Pairings

In general, Liu Che can be paired with any infantry commander with infantry units. However, we have compiled a selection of the best pairings that synergise well with Liu Che.

William Wallace (Best Pairing)

An overview of the William Wallace commander.

William Wallace is the best pairing for Liu Che, as he is another infantry commander who specializes in dealing smite damage.

In this pairing, William Wallace should be used as the primary commander since he has access to the new smite talent tree. Currently, no other infantry commanders offer this talent path, making Wallace by far the strongest option alongside Liu Che for maximizing Smite damage while also providing valuable buffs to infantry stats.

Sargon The Great

Sargon the Great character profile who can be paired with Liu Che.

Sargon the Great is another viable option to pair with Liu Che. Many players hesitated to invest in Sargon until Liu Che’s arrival, and the two commanders complement each other very well.

Since Sargon lacks an AOE active skill, pairing him with Liu Che allows you to target up to 5 enemies in a fan shape. Sargon’s focus on dealing normal damage, combined with Liu Che’s smite damage, creates a strong combination. Numerous battle reports featuring this commander pairing reveal that even the most resilient meta cavalry commanders struggle against them.

We recommend using Sargon as the primary commander in this pairing, as his skill talent tree is better suited for open-field battles.

Scipio Africanus Prime

An overview of Scipio Prime who is another great pairing for Liu Che.

Scipio Prime stands out as one of the best infantry commanders currently available in Rise of Kingdoms. If you haven’t invested in Sargon, he is the next best option to pair with Liu Che. Scipio Prime’s kit offers a wide range of buffs, including damage, shielding, march speed, and more.

Once again, we recommend using Scipio Prime as the primary commander due to his better talent trees.

However, if you already have many other infantry commanders like Ragnar Lodbrok or Guan Yu,  expertized and want multiple infantry marches, then combining William Wallace/Liu Che and Ragnar/Scipio would be the ideal choice.

Gorgo

Gorgo overview in Rise of Kingdoms.

Gorgo has become a less common pairing with Liu Che due to her being locked behind the Mightiest Governor event, making her less accessible for low-spenders and free-to-play players. There are more effective legendary commander options available through the Wheel of Fortune, making them a better choice for most players.

However, if you have obtained Gorgo, she forms a great pairing with Liu Che. Gorgo boosts attack damage and deals smite damage, synergizing well with Liu Che’s skills. It’s advisable to use Gorgo as the primary commander to leverage her talent trees.

Guan Yu

Guan Yu overview in Rise of Kingdoms.

Guan Yu works well in most infantry pairings, and this is no different with Liu Che. If you want a solid open-field pairing, look no further as Guan Yu provides insane amounts of damage that works well with Liu Che’s skills.

If you’ve been playing Rise of Kingdoms for some time, chances are you already have Guan Yu unlocked, as he is one of the initial legendary infantry commanders available through the Wheel of Fortune.

Liu Che Skill Levelling

When levelling all commanders, it’s important to level up their active skill to five first before progressing with the other skills.

After this, feel free to level Lui Che’s skills as you wish. All of his remaining skills offer valuable bonuses, so it’s beneficial to level them up. If you’re a dedicated infantry player, it’s highly recommended to expertise Lui Che.

Lui Che Best Formation

The formation you choose ultimately depends on how you want to use Lui Che.

If pairing Lui Che with a normal damage commander such as Sargon or William Wallace, the arch formation is the best as this enhances normal attack damage.

A skill damage pairing such as Guan Yu on the other hand, will mean the wedge formation is more useful.

How Do I Obtain Liu Che?

Liu Che is a legendary commander that can be obtained from the infantry Wheel of Fortune. You will need to obtain ten Liu Che commander tokens to fully unlock him. Once unlocked, you can invest universal legendary tokens to upgrade his skills further.

Be aware, you can only use Liu Che in kingdoms that have reached Season 3 or later. Prioritize focusing on him when you are in the Season of Conquest.

Summary: Is Liu Che Worth Investing In?

As it currently stands, we highly recommend investing in Liu Che. With previous cavalry commanders dominating the battlefield, Liu Che brings new hope for infantry players. His skills are tailored for large open-field battles, so if that’s your focus, invest in him to crush enemy legions. However, if you’re more inclined towards garrison or rally play, consider investing in a commander like Tariq ibn Ziyad.

Currently, pairing Liu Che with William Wallace proves to be one of the best combinations in the game. If you already have Wallace unlocked and levelled up to a reasonable level, then investing in Liu Che is a no-brainer.
